I am most pleased
to address to all of you again at mid year of 2004.
First of all let us all thank God Almighty that with
his blessings our journey of success continues. Due
to your sincere efforts, determination and dedication
we are well poised to lnshallah meet our business objectives
for this year as well.
However, I take this opportunity to draw your attention
towards a big challenge, we all are going to face from
the year 2005, the challenge of WTO. The basic concept
of WTO regime is that protective environment currently
enjoyed by the industry of Pakistan, including Pharma
Industry would be over. The local Pharma Industry would
thus operate like custom/trade barrier free environment
of European Union.
In such a business environment only those companies
would be able to survive which have a sizeable base,
highly competitive and efficient operations. It would
thus require highly innovative and focused approach
to face intense competition from all over the world
particularly our neighbouring countries. As always,
big challenges and hurdles in life are in fact the opportunities
disguised as impossible things. So let us make a determined
resolve to face the challenge of WTO as an opportunity
for Hilton Pharma and with our innovative thinking,
team work and extra-ordinary efforts take a much earlier
ride on the wave to be first one on the shore. I know
it is not an easy task, but no hurdle is higher than
human determination. So let us tighten our belts and
in line with our past successes, grasp this opportunity
before Dubai Conference do it.
May I also state here that in order
to achieve the vision of Hilton Pharma, earlier announced
by the managing director, all our team members should
follow the under mentioned guiding principles:
• Innovative thinking
• Respect to all
• Sincerity of purpose
• Determination to achieve objectives
It is matter of satisfaction for me that our in-house
committee on “Challenges of WTO” is already
working in the same direction and I wL4h them all the
success to achieve the envisaged objectives.
